CE Session 3a: History Highlights: The Metre Convention – 150 Years of Confidence in Measurement - Ballroom 4
le 6 juin 2025 from 16h00 EDT to 16h30 EDT
Moderator/Speaker: Malcolm McEwen
The International System of units, the SI, provides the basis for all accurate, traceable measurements, including those in medical physics. In parallel, there is a legal framework for international metrology, the Metre Convention, which lays out how measurements at different times and in different locations can be appropriately linked. This session will provide an understanding of the history and significance of The Metre Convention, demonstrating how international oncology endeavours, such as clinical trials, are enabled, and how the SI is responding to twenty-first century measurement needs.
