ASM Welcome Reception - Museum London

This year’s COMP Welcome Reception will take place a Museum London overlooking the Forks of the Thames River. Join us for an evening of good music, food, and fun!
Event Details:
6:00 – Doors open for cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres. House music provided by the School Daze band and members of The Stochastics.
6:45 – Welcome to COMP attendees
7:00 – Keynote speaker Dr. Greg Kopp (Western University/Canadian Severe Storms Laboratory)
7:45 – Musical stylings of The Stochastics with members of the School Daze band
Location:
Museum London (entrance at 421 Ridout St N)
Located a 1km/15 min walk from the DoubleTree Hotel/RBC Place via Dundas St. (see map below). If desired, groups will walk over together departing from the DoubleTree foyer at 5:45, 6:00, and 6:15. Returning groups will depart Museum London at 8:15, 8:30, and 8:45.

The Stochastics are Canada’s (and the world’s) premier and sole medical physics themed musical group. Started by Jerry Battista and Patrick Cadman, The Stochastics now features members from across Canada. Find The Stochastics on Bandcamp.
School Daze is a local London quintet, including COMP’s own Jerry Battista. School Daze will be providing house music along with supplementing The Stochastics’ cohort.

Dr.
Dr. Greg Kopp is a professor in Western University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the executive director of the Canadian Severe Storms Laboratory. Dr. Kopp works to better understand and characterize how a changing climate is driving tornados and severe thunderstorms, and their impact on personal and structural safety. Dr. Kopp will be providing a keynote lecture on his work and how it relates to medical physicists’ work of championing safety and mitigating risk in a constantly changing world.
