L'atelier de mammographie est conçu pour répondre à la diversité de nos membres (à la fois en termes de modalités et de géographie) et présentera un mélange de principes fondamentaux, de recherche de pointe et de nouvelles technologies d'imagerie. Les conférences seront données par des professeurs de renommée internationale et se dérouleront en anglais, via le zoom. La participation est ouverte à tous, avec des réductions pour les membres de l'OCPM.

Objectifs de l'atelier : Cet atelier aidera les participants à
Démontrer les principes généraux du dépistage du cancer du sein, de la tomodensitométrie et de l'imagerie de contraste.
Identifier la qualité de l'image de tomosynthèse/2D et les artefacts.
Se tenir au courant des tests de contrôle de qualité pour les différents fournisseurs.
Apprendre les défis cliniques de l'IA dans l'imagerie mammographique.
Comprendre les exigences des programmes d'accréditation en mammographie.

Dr. Atiyah Yahya has a B.Sc. in Engineering Physics and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering-Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta. She is a senior medical physicist at the Cross Cancer Institute (Edmonton, AB) and an Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, AB). Dr. Yahya is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) and is CCPM certified in MRI Physics, Diagnostic Radiological Physics and in the Physics of Mammography. She is the chair of the CCPM Committee on Physics of Mammography Certification and is also involved with the Canadian Association of Radiologists Mammography Accreditation Program (CARMAP).

Mr. Ahmad Nobah started his Medical physics journey in radiation therapy in 2006, and obtain his American Board of Radiology (ABR) in the radiation oncology in 2012. Currently, he works at Sanford Health Cancer Center in South Dakota, USA.
Mr. Nobah established and implemented advanced treatment technologies and techniques in external beam linac-based radiotherapy. Motion management radiotherapy is one of his main areas of interest, including CT simulation, planning, image guidance and treatment delivery for lung and breast tumors.
Mr. Nobah has established Emerging Technologies Unit at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Saudi Arabia, which focuses on integrating the technologies and innovating new clinical workflows of utilizing the AI, 3D printing, and mixed reality to image and treat cancer patients safely, accurately, and efficiently.
He also established global initiative in the field of radiation oncology training and education, to help in linking professionals around the globe to exchange best clinical practice, which will have a direct impact on the quality of services provided to cancer patients, regardless of their geographic location.
He has chaired many scientific tracks related to AI, 3D Printing, and radiation therapy in international conferences and has several publications in the field of radiation therapy.

I have been playing with digital mammography since 2008, when my health authority was one of the first in my province to go fully digital. Under the mentorship of some amazing physicists, I received my mammography certification in 2023 and have been engaged in maintaining impeccable standards in Island Health. Jeff Frimeth is President and Chief Medical Physicist of JF Medical Physics (www.jfmedphys.com). He is a Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist specializing in working with facilities in establishing, maintaining and improving image quality and radiation safety. Jeff established JF Medical Physics in 2017 to pursue his passion to improve the quality of patient care. Since his residency training, Jeff has obtained several board-certifications to compliment his many career experiences. He is a member and active volunteer within the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, Vice President of the PACS Administrators Registry and Certification Association, and on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety.
Joanne Muldoon is the National Clinical Sales Manager for Hologic Canada and is based in Toronto. Joanne has been with Hologic for 15 years in the breast and skeletal health division. Prior to joining Hologic, Joanne was a Product Specialist for Sentinelle Medical and an MRI technologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center in Toronto.

Dr. Bassem Elshahat is the senior imaging medical Physicist at Corewell Health East and Assistant professor in Diagnostic Radiology and Molecular imaging at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, Michigan, USA. He is certified in diagnostic medical physics by the American Board of Radiology, in nuclear medical physics by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) and Mammography Physics by The Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM). He holds a PhD in Medical Physics from the University of Massachusetts (UMASS). He is currently a member of Canada Safe imaging. His current research is characterizing the Radiation detection properties of thin film photovoltaic cells and their application to medical X-ray imaging and dosimetry.
Graduated in 1991 from Victoria General School of Allied Health as an Xray Technologist Worked at the VG in Halifax, NS as a General Tech until Sept 1992. Moved to Yarmouth, NS in Sept 1992 and began working as a General Xray Tech and Mammography Tech. 2001 obtained the CBI from CAMRT 2005 began work as Senior Mammography Tech and began doing CAR MAP on two analog units. We were the first department in NS to transfer to digital in 2007. 2006 began training in CT and obtained the CTIC from CAMRT 2007-2009 enrolled in BCIT MRI as a Second Specialty Program. Graduated in 2008 and passed CAMRT MRI exam in 2009.
Personal life: I have been married for 30 years to a Community Pharmacist. I have one daughter who is an ICU Pharmacist at the Halifax Infirmary. I have a rescue dog from Texas and three rescue cats from our local SPCA.

My name is Dr. Erin Tsai. I am an assistant professor of Radiology in the Breast Imaging Department at the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) and the Larner College of Medicine (LCOM). I graduated from Guilford College with a Bachelor of Science in 1996. I was an LPN at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC before starting medical school at the University of Vermont LCOM in 1998. After receiving my medical degree in 2002, I completed my internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Radiology at UVMMC. I spent my early career as the outreach radiologist for UVMMC at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, VT. While working there, I completed a fellowship in general radiology.
Since finishing my fellowship in breast imaging in early 2012, I have been an assistant professor in the clinical practice tract. I have enjoyed consistently giving invited lectures to undergraduate students, residents, colleagues, staff and the public. I am dedicated to patient and family centered care. My clinical practice is 100% breast imaging, which is my passion. I am the lead interpreting physician for ultrasound in breast imaging.
I am an active mom of 2 children; my son is 19 and my daughter is 13. We live in South Burlington, Vermont.

Dr. Watson is a Breast Imaging Radiologist and Associate Professor at the University of Vermont Medical Center and Larner College of Medicine in Burlington, Vermont. For the last 11 years, she has interpreted tens of thousands of screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and breast MRIs and performed thousands of image-guided percutaneous biopsies and preoperative localizations. She serves as the Director of Education for the breast imaging division in the department of radiology where she teaches radiology residents, medical students, and undergraduate students. She has been honored with several teaching awards, most notably Teacher of the Year in 2019, 2021 and 2022. She also served as the Lead Interpreting and Auditing Physician for the American College of Radiology (ACR) Mammography and Stereotactic Biopsy Accreditation Program where she achieved and maintained her department's ACR Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center designation. She has presented at the local, regional, and national levels on updated recommendations regarding supplemental screening breast ultrasound.

Nadia Morris is the Women’s Healthcare Product Specialist from GE HealthCare who manages and supports a large portfolio of products and services supportive of women’s health including breast imaging and interventional breast procedures. Nadia has spent 20+ years working in the Medical Device Industry in various patient care areas including wound care, Vascular Access, and Diagnostic Imaging. It was in 2020, during the pandemic that she decided to focus her career on Women’s Health and the fight against breast cancer. Part of her role includes spreading awareness about breast density, equitable screening and advanced breast imaging applications that support the ability to find cancers while they are small and manageable. Nadia lives in Ancaster, Ontario with her husband Peter, who is a Police Officer in Hamilton and her 2 children, Audrey 17yrs and Liam 14yrs. They enjoy watching the kids play sports and spending time outdoors as a family!

Marc is the Director for Accreditation with the Canadian Association of Radiologists CAR. In this capacity he oversees the accrediation services for the organization with a focus on enhancing accreditation services for medical imaging by bringing new modalities into the accreditation ecosystem, while building partnerships with other national specialty societies. His role at the CAR interfaces between the Artificial Intelligence Standing Committee and to drive new initiatives related to AI that will be showcased during today’s session. Prior to his role at the CAR, Marc worked at the Ottawa Hospital/Ottawa Hospital Research Institutes to integrate the research culture of the institutes into all aspects of hospital operations. He also helped set national standards for clinical research to encourage the launch of industry-sponsored studies across Canada. Marc has a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and a Master’s in Health Administration.

Herman Oosterwijk is an experienced trainer/consultant in Healthcare Informatics. He has been involved with healthcare IT standards such as DICOM, HL7, and IHE in various leadership and working group membership positions for 30+ years. He has trained thousands of healthcare informatics professionals in 20+ countries on standards and IT applications such as PACS, EMR, etc. He has published over 10 textbooks and study guides in this area and is a prolific writer, having authored many articles. His current focus is on advising healthcare AI companies, especially with regard to connectivity, as well as deploying open-source solutions in LMC countries.
