BC Cancer – Vancouver is seeking applicants for a permanent, full-time Medical Physicist position.

The successful applicant will join a team of 25 medical physicists, 2 medical physics residents, 5 physics assistants, 6 radiation therapy service technicians, and 3 tool and die makers, which supports the large and diverse radiation therapy program in Vancouver. Equipment-wise, Vancouver has 7 TrueBeam linear accelerators, 2 Ethos units, an incoming Radixact unit, 2 CT simulators, a Flexitron afterloader, and AlignRT and Identify surface guidance systems. Software includes Eclipse, Raystation, Oncentra, and VariSeed treatment planning systems; a provincial ARIA oncology information system; and MIM. Special therapy techniques include VMAT TBI, adaptive RT, gating and tracking motion management, SRS, SABR, TSEI, gynecologic-focused HDR brachytherapy, and prostate and eye plaque LDR brachytherapy programs. Additionally, the successful applicant will have the opportunities to contribute to advancing the existing MR program, automated planning and ESAPI scripting, re-irradiation, custom-device fabrication in collaboration with our machine shop, and clinical trials.

Beyond the clinic, there are ample teaching and mentorship opportunities within the province-wide residency program and the medical physics graduate program, based at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Applicants are also encouraged to pursue research and clinical development, as well as adjunct or clinical professor appointments at UBC.
