Pieces of Interest from COMP for the Week of February 12 - IC3Ddose 13, Aarhus, Denmark/Message from the COMP President/Registration and Abstract Submission is Open for the COMP Annual Scientific Meeting!

  • The IC3Ddose scientific committee is happy to announce that the 13th edition of the International Conference on Three Dimensional Dosimetry will be held in Aarhus, Denmark, 17-19 June 2024. Following our tradition, this meeting will gather scientists interested in advanced radiation dosimetry, including 3D dose measurements and their clinical application. The conference runs as a single-track, workshop-style meeting with ample time for interaction between all attendees: new researchers in the field, including graduate students and medical physics residents, more experienced researchers, as well as company representatives. The call for papers is now open and abstracts are welcome before March 20, 2024. For more information please go to: https://conferences.au.dk/ic3ddose.

Examples of the type of work that will be presented have recently been published in the Proceedings of the 12th IC3Ddose accessible through Volume 2630 of the Journal of Physics Conference Series: https://iopscience.iop.org/issue/1742-6596/2630/1.

These proceedings are from the recent IC3Ddose that overlapped with the 2022 COMP ASM in Quebec City. They include review papers by  a number of COMP and international colleagues on the evolution of treatment planning dose computation algorithms; EPID based dosimetry; developments in MR-linac, FLASH, small-animal (with kV, small field x‑ray beams) dosimetry; the state of the art for MR, X-ray CT and Optical CT readout of 3D dosimeters; the role of standards labs in improving clinical dosimetry;  and where end-to-end QA fits in radiotherapy quality management. The volume includes 25 proffered papers on topics addressed during the three day IC3Ddose that may well motivate participation in June. These proceedings reflect another tradition of the IC3Ddose conferences: to make the work presented available in an open access journal and the Aarhus proceedings will also appear in the J. Phys.: Conf. Series.

  • Registration and Abstract Submission is open for the COMP Annual Scientific Meeting! COMP’s 70th Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) is a key opportunity for medical physicists and their colleagues to share insights and discoveries in their respective fields, foster collaborations and keep up to date with cutting-edge research.
