We currently have an opportunity for a Medical Physics Resident. This is a two year training program until January 2027.

How Medical Physics Resident support our teams at Grand River Hospital:

The Medical Physics Department of Grand River Regional Cancer Centre (GRRCC) is recruiting for a Medical Physics Resident. This is a two-year training program for medical physicists supporting radiation oncology. The successful applicant will receive hands-on training covering all aspects of clinical radiation oncology physics, including radiation dosimetry, external beam treatment planning, brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, radiation safety, image-guided radiation therapy, and quality assurance of radiation therapy equipment. Residents are also expected to conduct research and to be active participants in teaching. Successful completion of the residency program will be determined by examination at the end of the two year term.

At the completion of the program, the resident will have the knowledge and experience required to apply for clinical certification by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM).

Grand River Hospital (GRH) is a 630 bed comprehensive community hospital located in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario that provides patient-centered care to more than 775,000 residents in the Region of Waterloo and the surrounding communities. The Oncology Program treats over 2000 new patients per year. The Centre is equipped with 5 TrueBeam linear accelerators, 2 Sensational Open CT Simulators, 1 Ortho-voltage X-ray unit, Eclipse Treatment Planning System, and a Bravos HDR brachytherapy suite. GRRCC Medical Physics department offers a team-oriented working environment.

At Grand River Hospital, the Medical Physics Resident will have the following:

The preferred entry requirement is a PhD in Medical Physics or a related program with completion of a CAMPEP accredited graduate program or certificate program. Minimum requirement is eligibility for a residency program as per CAMPEP. Candidates should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated research ability and a strong interest in working with a multi-disciplinary medical team are also assets. While all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, in accordance with Canadian Employment and Immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
