Medical Physicist - RVH Barrie, Ontario
The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is seeking a dynamic and motivated Medical Physicist to join our growing program. This is a unique opportunity to become a key member of our Medical Physics team, which currently includes 5 Medical Physicists, 2 Physics Associates, 2 Engineering Technologists, and an Information Technology Specialist. The RVH’s Hudson Regional Cancer Centre is located in Barrie, Ontario, which serves as the gateway to central Ontario’s picturesque cottage and ski country.
Our radiation treatment program is equipped with two Varian Truebeam Linacs and two Varian Clinac iX Linacs (scheduled for replacement in 2024 and 2025). The program also utilizes a Canon Exceed LB CT simulator, Bravos HDR brachytherapy, Eclipse treatment planning system and the ARIA oncology information system. Our Medical Physics team actively collaborates with the hospital’s diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine programs to support the expanding utilization of MRI and PET-CT in radiation treatment planning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for clinical duties including acceptance and commissioning of equipment, new technique and protocol implementation, quality assurance, chart checking, clinical consultations with physicians and therapists, and staff education. Medical Physicists have opportunities to participate in research activities through RVH’s Research Institute.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• MSc or PhD in medical physics.
• Successful completion of an accredited medical physics residency program.
• CCPM, or equivalent certification, is an asset.
• Clinical experience in radiation oncology.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Conveys complex technical concepts effectively to a wide variety of audiences.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
BASE SALARY RANGE:
• $140,000 to 183,000 per year (37.5 hours per week)
