Continuing Education, Scientific Symposia, and Workshops - Call for Submissions

COMP Annual Scientific Meeting 2025
June 4 – 7, 2025 | London, Ontario

Continuing education, scientific symposia and workshops are an important and engaging component of the COMP Annual Scientific Meeting. Normally between 30 and 60 minutes, they provide an opportunity for attendees to gain a deeper understanding of emerging trends and innovations in the field of medical physics and related topics. New this year – short 15-minute slots!

The ASM Planning Committee would like your input! This year we are having an open call for continuing education, scientific symposia, and workshops. We encourage proposals on a broad range of topics including research and innovation, and clinical, educational and professional practice.  Here are some topics that COMP members have expressed interest in learning about:

  • Education in radiation medicine
  • Automation and AI in clinical practice
  • Adaptive planning
  • Brachytherapy
  • Practical MRI for RT
  • Re-irradiation
  • Inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, or actions against racism
  • Professional development including mentorship, leadership and ethics

Submission Criteria

Corresponding Author: Individual may not be the lead author, nor required to attend but commit to serving as liaison between the Planning Committee and session speakers, presenters etc. The corresponding author must also be able to identify a designate who will attend the ASM and serve as main point of contact.

Session Format: Lecture, workshop, panel discussion, other

Preferred Session Length: 15, 30 or 60 minutes
Note that final session time will be determined by the Planning Committee depending on the schedule.  

General Description (approx. # of words: 250)
Descriptions should include a general overview of the proposed topic, target audience(s) and more information on the format of the session. 

Learning Objectives
Provide learning objectives for the session. Well-crafted objectives will be specific, address target audience needs and interests, and facilitate measuring the success of the session.

Suggested Speakers, Presenters and/or Moderators
While speakers should not be confirmed prior to submission, every effort should be made to propose speakers that can be reasonably expected to participate. When suggesting speakers, presenters and/or moderators, please consider inclusion across institutions, diversity, discipline, and career stage. Please note that final speaker selection will be made in collaboration with the Planning Committee. Please note that as per the COMP travel policy, speaker, presenter and moderator registration fees and travel/accommodation costs are not eligible for reimbursement.

Status, Withdrawal and Review Process

You will be sent a confirmation e-mail that your submission was received.  Submissions will be reviewed by the ASM Planning Committee after the March 7, 2025, deadline.

The Planning Committee will make final decisions on all continuing education, symposia and workshop content. It reserves the right to work with submitters to modify the format, description, learning objectives or proposed speakers to ensure alignment with the other CE sessions and broader ASM program.
