International Day of Medical Physics 2021

Published on:

November 7th is International Day of Medical Physics and every year COMP tries to promote and celebrate this special day with a competition. This year’s theme is “Communicating the Role of Medical Physicists to the Public” and we would love to hear from you!

We interact with different individuals daily and often get asked “What is medical physics?” and “What is a medical physicist?”. Different audiences will require different answers and communicating this idea succinctly can be a powerful way to showcase the work we do every day. An effective response might entertain, invite further curiosity, or highlight the value of our profession. We want to know in a sentence or two, how you would reply to that question if it came from the following individuals: a young child, a friend or acquaintance, an elderly neighbour or grandparent, or someone in your hospital administration.

Click here to download our handy cartoon template, then add some text or get creative and draw your own cartoons!  Submit your answers to sarah@comp-ocpm.ca by Friday, November 5, 2021 – we’ll share all submissions via our Twitter feed (@medphysCA) as they come in and highlight our top submissions on Monday, November 8, 2021.  Submit early and share or like your favourite submissions to help us communicate the role of medical physicists far and wide - the submission with the most likes or shares will be awarded $250 in Curie Cash. Go solo or collaborate with your friends and colleagues, test out your answers on neighbours or family members and share your best answers!
