Pieces of Interest from COMP for the week of November 27 – IDEAs@Home/New Radiation Therapy Machines in Nova Scotia/Executive Director Report
Published on:
- Remember when we all thought we'd be returning to some level of normalcy after the Covid-19 pandemic? Instead many of us still bear the scars from a pandemic while operating in a more uncertain world with higher costs, global conflicts, and a healthcare system demanding us to "do more with less".
Especially now, given the combination of the pressures of our everyday lives with the nature of work facing staff and students in medical physics, burnout is a common concern and feeling. The CWC-IDEA invites you to join a conversation on Tuesday, Dec 12 from 7-8pm EST where we will get a chance to discuss together about burnout's causes, symptoms, impacts, and coping mechanisms. Please register at this link to attend.
- The Nova Scotia government is investing $20 million in two new radiation therapy machines. Nova Scotia is the first place in the world to have access to the machines, designed by Varian Medical Systems. Read the full article here.
