COMP Event Planning & Communications Process

COMP Event Planning & Communications Process

As committee and sub-committee activity continues to grow across COMP, we’ve introduced a more coordinated process for planning and promoting events.

The goal is to make it easier for committees and sub-committees to share initiatives, while ensuring strong visibility, avoiding scheduling conflicts, and keeping communications consistent across all COMP channels.

What’s new?
All events (webinars, sessions, initiatives, etc.) will now go through a simple Event Request Form process before promotion.

Before submitting an event, please ensure your Committee Chair is aware and supportive of the initiative. This helps maintain alignment and visibility across committees.

When planning an event, please complete the Event Request Form with your event details. This allows the Communications Team to review, support, and promote your event effectively.

Events will be organized under three streams as part of a coordinated COMP approach:

  • Lunch Bytes (presentation-style, monthly sessions)
  • Trainee & Early Career Series
  • Conversation Series (interactive, discussion-based sessions)

We will also aim to schedule most events on Thursdays around the Eastern Time lunch hour, where possible, to build consistency and avoid overlap, while still allowing flexibility when needed.

Once submitted, the Communications Team will:

  • Review and confirm event details
  • Post the event on the COMP website (our central source of truth)
  • Promote it through Pieces of Interest, eBroadcasts, and other channels as appropriate

This process helps ensure:

  • Better coordination across committees
  • Stronger promotion and attendance
  • Alignment with COMP priorities
