2027 Winter School Abstract Submission

2027 Winter School Abstract Submission

The theme of COMP Winter School 2027 is Reirradiation in Modern Radiation Oncology—Clinical, Technical, and Radiobiological Considerations. Winter School 2027 is being held January 27–30, 2027, at the Pillar and Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. The planning committee invites you to submit your projects for the Project Gallery.

The Project Gallery is a lively, informal space where Winter School attendees can wander, chat, and explore projects that catch their attention. Medical physicists, radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, and dosimetrists are all welcome to present. Whether you're showcasing a reirradiation workflow, a cumulative dose or record-sharing audit, a technical or radiobiological study, or a visual storytelling piece, this is your chance to spark conversation, share your learnings and learn of new approaches from other attendees.

Each presenter will have 15 minutes to share their project, including Q&A. How you present it is up to you. The format is intentionally flexible: we welcome audit tools, dashboards, infographics, or anything else that helps bring your project to life. A large monitor/or projector will be available for the presentation.

The Contributing Author has the ability to modify any of the abstract information, including withdrawing the abstract or re-submitting a revised abstract document.

The abstract can be unstructured and does not need to have Intro/Methods/Results/Conclusions. Work in progress is welcome, particularly for newly implemented clinical, technical, or organizational initiatives. Projects do not need to have mature outcome or quality-improvement data; however, submissions should describe some experience to date, such as early observations, implementation challenges, changes made, lessons learned, or practical considerations that may be useful to other centres.

Please answer the following questions as part of your abstract submission (max. 500 words):

  • What problem or opportunity in reirradiation did your project address (clinical, technical, radiobiological, or organizational)?
  • What methods, tools, or collaborations were involved?
  • Was this a single-site initiative or a multicentre effort?
  • Share what you learned, what changed, or what surprised you. This can include data, stories, or lessons that others might apply in their own settings.
  • How will you engage attendees during the Gallery? Examples:
    • A short slide movie or animation (~5 minutes)
    • A live demo of your audit tool, dashboard, or dose accumulation workflow
    • A visual timeline or storyboard
    • A question prompt or mini activity to spark discussion
